Adjunct Faculty Handbook
The Handbook, though not all-inclusive, will provide you with many details associated with Endicott College’s Van Loan School. I encourage you to review the Handbook and become acquainted with our respective responsibilities. Most of your questions should be addressed. Hours of Service (Faculty Related/Payment)
For the purposed of required federal reporting, adjunct instructional workloads are calculated
at the rate of 2.25 hours for every credit hour. Using the Endicott College Standard
Measurement Period, a 3 credit course is equal to 101.25 hours of service (as indicated on the
adjunct faculty contract). The hours of service include tasks such as class preparation, grading
of examinations or papers, and classroom instruction.
Instructional Hours (Student Related)
All courses (face-to-face, online, or hybrid) must include 135 hours’ worth of instruction and
academic activities. Per NEASC guidelines, for every hour of classroom or direct faculty
instruction, students must complete a minimum of 2 hours of out-of-class work each week.
